Fullmetal Alchemist is a manga series by Hiromu Arakawa. Set in the early 20th century, the series follows the journey of two alchemist brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, who are searching for the philosopher's stone.

Manga are graphic novels originating from Japan. The term is used in Japan to refer to both comics and cartooning. Outside of Japan, the word is typically used to refer to comics originally published in the country.
